MGM Springfield exceeds expectations
The casino revealed that the number of attendees is higher than they had predicted.
US.- MGM Springfield, which opened its doors on the last week of August, has reported its first official data. The casino said that it has experienced a strong opening, as it averages 50,000 daily visitors on weekends.
The facility located in Massachusetts updated the Massachusetts Gaming Commission last week and said that besides the 50,000 daily visitors on weekends, it averages 25,000 daily visitors during the week ever since its opening on August 24. The casino projected around 15,000 to 20,000 visitors every day, and while MGM Springfield president Michael Mathis declined to talk about specific numbers when it comes to revenue, the local authority said that MGM collected approximately US$2.1 million in table games and US$7.3 million in slots.
“While these gaming revenue figures represent less than eight days of operations in August, they demonstrate MGM Springfield’s tremendously successful opening week, when we welcomed more than 150,000 visitors over our first weekend alone,” Mathis said. “We are pleased our efforts to design a resort to complement Downtown Springfield is being so enthusiastically received.”
