MGM focuses on sports betting
The company added Scott Butera to its executive team in order to focus on sports betting.
US.- MGM Resorts International announced that Scott Butera has joined the company as President of Interactive Gaming in a move that seeks to position MGM as an industry leader in the recently legalised US sports betting market.
Butera is set to provide strategic leadership on the development of interactive gaming, which includes sports betting and skill-based gaming opportunities. His primary immediate focus will be on MGM Resorts’ sports betting strategy as the company works to expand its industry-best sports wagering operations to new US markets.
The US Supreme Court lifted the federal ban on sports betting as it declared that the act that was in place was unconstitutional and that each state deserved the opportunity to see if they wanted to legalise and regulate the gambling modality. Now, gambling companies are evaluating the benefits of sports betting and studying the market to launch its services.
Corey Sanders, Chief Operating Officer for MGM Resorts, said: “Scott is joining the company at a really exciting time. Skill-based gaming is expanding exponentially and his experience will help us to dominate the field. As an industry leader in sports betting and cutting-edge interactive gaming offerings, MGM Resorts is well-positioned to bring our decades of experience and well-earned reputation to new markets throughout the country. Scott will play a key role as we continue to expand nationwide.”
