Merkur Gaming at ICE 2016

Tradition. Passion. Innovation. Words chosen by the German gaming company to describe their work in the casinos’ industry.

In an exclusive conversation with Focus Gaming News, David Orrick, recently named Director of Industry Relations of Merkur Gaming -and former Novomatic Director of Communications and Business Development- talked about the future of the company, including the international exhibition ICE (ExCel, London, 2-4 February).

You have just joined Merkur Gaming. How have your first days with the company been?

I was both honoured and excited to be able to join this truly great gaming company. The reception that I have received and the anticipation of the world’s greatest gaming show have made this a very memorable time for me. What has been obvious, from the first day, was that there is a very special team here at Merkur Gaming. When I combine that with the really exciting products that are destined for ICE in London (notably the Avantgarde SLT and the new Merkurstar with their enthralling game range) I am totally convinced that we are going to deliver an extremely strong showing of our brand, our team and the gaming innovations that we will exhibit. Really, I cannot wait for ICE to begin!

As you say, ICE will be held once again in London very soon. What does Merkur Gaming expect from this show?

We confidently expect a really great show and, of course, the vitally important opportunities to meet with customers that ICE will bring. ICE is the largest and most important gaming show on earth and our expectations are no smaller.

Will the company introduce new products during the show? In that case, which are the advantages for the casino and the player?

For Merkur Gaming the customer is always of prime importance. At ICE, as for all the major shows that we attend, we will deliver our latest gaming innovations that we are certain will excite and inspire our customers, and then their customers – the players – with ever greater opportunities in the world of gaming entertainment.

Which are this year’s plans? Which markets are you focusing on?

The plans for Merkur Gaming in 2016 will have a major focus on international markets around the world as we continue to build our brand, expand our existing market success and move to bring our gaming vision to new territories and new customers. It is a process that you will see demonstrated at ICE in London and we take this opportunity to extend a warm invitation to all show visitors to come and visit us on stand N260 and to see for themselves our latest products and innovations.

How do you see the gaming industry today? Which are the challenges for this year for the worldwide industry?

In the international gaming industry challenges are, of course, a constant factor. Those challenges give us inspiration, as challenges always create opportunities. As the whole world finally emerges from a long period of recession the international gaming industry will collectively work hard to provide new innovations and solutions that will take us forward into a new era of success and prosperity. You can be absolutely sure that Merkur Gaming, as an industry leader with the benefit of a long history and as a key innovator, will be at the very forefront of that process: this year and beyond!
