Melco opens temporary casino in Cyprus

The Limassol facility precedes City of Dreams Mediterranean, expected to open in 2021.

Cyprus.- Melco Group has unveiled its first European facility as it opened a temporary casino (C2) in Cyprus on Thursday. The casino will be operational until 2021 when the company is expected to open City of Dreams Mediterranean in Limassol.

Craig Ballantyne, property president of City of Dreams Mediterranean and Cyprus Casinos, said: “Even though C2 is a pop-up casino, this property will give new meaning to the term. We’ve invested close to €13 million in this facility to ensure that every one of our guests experiences the renowned standards and quality of service which Melco, one of the world’s largest integrated resort operators, is famous for.”

The temporary facility is located in a former supermarket in Zakaki, and the renovations totalled approximately €12 million. The 4,600-square-meter casino includes a 1,300-square-meter gaming area and is expected to bring 25,000 guests every month. It features 33 tables and 242 slot machines, as well as a VIP gaming area and food and retail options. The facility is open 24 hours and welcomes players over 21-years-old.
