MGM Springfield to bring first poker room
A new casino poker room under MGM’s brand will be inaugurated in Massachusetts on August 24th.
US.- MGM Resorts revealed the opening date for its new casino in Springfield, Massachusetts, after great controversy due to the gaming licence and competition with nearby casinos. MGM Springfield will be the state’s first casino poker room and will open its doors to the public on August 24th, according to the official statement.
MGM Resorts has invested US$1 billion in its new casino so far and will have a Las Vegas-style, as reported by the American company. MGM Springfield could soon compete with a new casino by Wynn Resorts, although the legal case against Wynn’s ex-CEO, Steve Wynn, could delay the licensing process and the opening of the second casino poker room in the area.
“The Springfield property will include a 125,000-square-foot gaming floor with about 2,550 slot machines, 120 gaming tables, a poker room and high-limit VIP gaming area. The poker room will include 23 tables, but that’s only a fraction of the 90 that Encore Boston Harbor is eyeing,” revealed the statement.
Earlier this year, the MGM Springfield in Western Massachusetts opened the casino’s new administrative office building as it inaugurated the first building in the resort casino complex. The construction was designed to accommodate 300 corporate and human resource workers, while it also operates as a training school for potential casino workers.
