Massachusetts discusses iGaming bill
Massachusetts officials held a meeting this week to discuss possible legalisation of the iGaming sector.
US.- Last Tuesday a Massachusetts special commission held a meeting to debate possible legalisation of iGaming industry. The state would follow the national trend of proposing gaming expansion, which can push for a federal regulation allowing online gaming operations countrywide. The Special Commission is presenting a complete report on July 31, as a potential legalisation evaluation would be set for 2018.
According to an official press release, the discussion was carried out earlier this week by the Massachusetts Special Commission on Online Gaming, Fantasy Sports Gaming and Daily Fantasy Sports. The main target of the meeting was to reactivate the debate on the iGaming proposals, which are currently under evaluation of legislators.
As the bill has not moved forward yet, the Special Commission is proposing an omnibus approach to continue with the legislative debate. Until now, the bill does not contain substantial requirements such as tax plans, licensing process nor operations conditions.
Casino City Times quoted the State House News, Gaming Commission Chairman Stephen Crosby saying he’d like to see more substantial legislation, something “broad brushed, very clear in terms of values and parameters and regulatory criteria.” Sen. Jennifer Flanagan agreed: “A very broad approach to this would be best for Massachusetts.”
