Maryland sport betting licence approvals delayed
The Sports Wagering Application Review Commission has decided to delay the approval of pending licences for five casinos.
US.- The Sports Wagering Application Review Commission (SWARC) in Maryland has decided to delay approval of pending licenses for the five casinos that have applied. The commission voted to request supplemental data from the casinos. It now plans to vote on the licences at its next meeting on November 18.
The five casinos waiting for approval to launch retail sportsbooks are Hollywood Casino (Barstool Sportsbook), Ocean Downs (TwinSpires Sportsbook), Horseshoe Baltimore (Caesars Sportsbook), Live! Casino Maryland (FanDuel Sportsbook) and MGM National Harbor (BetMGM Sportsbook).
In October, the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission (MLGCC) gave its initial approval to the five casinos, but the SWARC must give the final approval.
Although voters in Maryland approved sports betting last year, it looks unlikely to launch until the end of the year.
