Maryland casinos report revenue decline
The six casinos in Maryland reported US$143 million in revenue during October operations, which is an 8.9% fall year-over-year.
US.- The Maryland Lottery and Gaming, which is in charge of collecting financial figures from gambling operations in the state, has released the latest report from casino operations. In October, the six casinos in the state generated US$143.9 million.
The US$143.9 million figure represents an 8.9% decline when compared to the same month in 2018. While the overall figure is negative, three of the six casinos in the state experienced year-over-year increases when compared to October 2018’s gaming revenue total.
Moreover, the report shows that contributions to the state from casino gaming revenue in October 2019 totalled US$59.2 million. Of that number, approximately US$45 million went to the Education Trust Fund.
September results
In September, the six casinos in Maryland generated US$142.2 million, which is a 1.1% decline when compared to September 2018. Revenue from the casinos sent US$59.2 million in contributions to the state, supporting the Education Trust Fund, as well as the local horse racing industry.
While the overall results were negative, there were two casinos that increased their revenues in September in Maryland. MGM National Harbor, the leading operator in Maryland, generated US$57.7 million in revenue in September, up 6% from 2018. Rocky Gap Casino Resort is the other facility with positive results, as it totalled US$4.7 million and a 3.2% rise.
