Maryland casinos report successful January

The six casinos in the state totalled US$137 million in revenue in January.

US.- According to the latest figures released by Maryland’s gambling regulator, the six casinos in the state reported US$137 million in revenue, which represents a 7.2% increase from January 2018.

The Maryland Lottery and Gaming revealed this week that casinos contributed US$55.3 million to the state, with US$41.5 million of that going to the Education Trust Fund. The casinos enjoyed significantly better performance when compared to January 2018.

MGM National Harbor was once again the top scorer in Maryland, accounting for US$56.2 million or 41% of the revenue at all six casinos, which is also a 12% increase from the same period a year ago. Live! Casino & Hotel totalled US$46.3 million in revenue, up 6.3% from January 2018.

Baltimore’s Horseshoe Casino increased revenues from January 2018 by 0.6% to US$20.2 million, while Ocean Downs and Rocky Gap reported a 6.1% and 9.2% increase, respectively. Hollywood Casino Perryville was the only facility in the state that experienced bad results, with a 4.3% revenue decrease.
