“Manufacturers can help operators prepare for reopening”

(Exclusive interview).- Focus Gaming News speaks to Eduardo Aching, Vice President of International Gaming Operations at Konami Gaming.

US.- Based in Las Vegas, Konami Gaming is one of the leading designers and manufacturers of slot machines and casino management systems for the global gaming market.

It has been a busy time as the company helps casinos reopen following the Covid-19 lockdown.

The company has been in constant communication with operators, coordinating to ensure safety of staff,  providing technical assistance via video conferencing, delivering spare parts and advising on restarting machines.

Eduardo Aching believes casinos’ efforts should pay off in the short to medium term.

He says he is seeing changes in configurations on gaming floors as casinos look to create distance between machines, opting for pod configurations rather than putting gaming machines in lines, which is only possible due to the flexible design of machines.

Aching stresses that increased communication and coordination is essential to react to the new situation and minimise risk of contagion and casinos having to close again.

“There is a new set of standards we’re adapting to so casinos don’t have to close again,” he said.

“Players will come back as soon as they feel safe going to the casino so the more we do in that direction will help everybody.”
