Mansion Group has announced that it’s closing its MansionBet sportsbook division to focus on its online casino business.

UK.- Gibraltar-based Mansion Group has announced it will close its sports betting business, MansionBet, this month. MansionBet will stop operating on March 31.

The company said it had chosen to refocus on its online casino businesses Casino.com, MansionCasino and Slots Heaven after reviewing market conditions and the regulatory environment in sports betting in Britain, where the government’s gambling white paper is expected to propose restrictions on gambling sponsorship in sport.

Mansion also plans to expand its business outside of the UK, particularly in Spain and in the US and Canada. It already has a presence in Spain and it has has applied for a licence for Casino.com in the Canadian province of Ontario, where online gaming is due to launch on April 4.

Mansion was founded in 2004. It re-launched its sports betting offering under the MansionBet name in 2018 with a series of major sports sponsorships, including with Premier League football clubs Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth. The group’s Asia-facing brand M88 faced a Gambling Commission investigation in 2020.

Mansion Group CEO Christian Block said: “After careful deliberation, we have decided to cease trading our MansionBet brand. The commercial decision was a difficult one, but it does provide an opportunity to focus on our casino brands, where we have a long history of excelling.”

MansionBet customers will be able to withdraw funds from their accounts until March 31. After that, they’ll need to contact the company’s customer support to do so. Winning open bets will be paid out until April 28. Bets beyond that date will be refunded.

Block said: “To minimise impact on consumers, we have ensured our customers’ future winnings continue to get paid out, and stakes will be returned regardless of outcome. Finally, I would like to thank all our colleagues and partners for building the sportsbook brand, and our loyal customers for their support throughout.”
