Analysts said that gross gaming revenue is on track to set a 15 to 17 per cent growth in Macau.

Macau.- Bernstein analysts revealed on Tuesday that according to information collected during the first week of August, Macau’s gross gambling revenue (GGR) is expected to grow 15 to 17 per cent in August.

While the first week of the month reported decent growth, the pace will moderate in the next few weeks, the analysts explained. Month-to-date ADR for the first seven days of the month reaches US$108 million, which is 20 per cent higher than the number registered during the same period in 2017.

Moreover, month-to-date VIP gold rate for the first week was above normal margins, while mass GGR slightly up mid-single numbers. Based on this information, Bernstein said that August GGR will reach between US$3.2 billion to US$3.4 billion, which represents a 15 to 17 per cent increase from 2017.

Last month, GGR rose 10 per cent year-on-year to US$3.14 billion, and year-to-date revenue increased 18 per cent to US$21.6 billion. Last month’s numbers mark two consecutive years of year-on-year revenue growth in Macau, as the last decrease report was in July 2016.
