Macau collects €2.84 billion from gaming taxes

The Macau government has collected €2.84 billion in fiscal revenues from direct taxes on gaming in January 2017.

Macau.- During the first month of the year, the Macau government collected €2.84 billion in fiscal revenues from direct taxes on gaming. This amount represents a 14.1 per cent rise year-on-year, as reported by the city’s Financial Services Bureau in provisional data published on Monday.

According to the report, direct taxes from gaming accounted for 80.7 per cent of the Macau government’s total revenue in January, which stood at approximately €1 billion.

During 2017, the city’s direct taxes from gaming reached €9.28 billion, up 18.2 per cent year-on-year, posting the first annual growth in revenue from gaming taxes following two consecutive years of decline.

Furthermore, aggregate gross gaming revenue (GGR) market wide in Macau for 2017 rose by 19.1 per cent year-on-year to €26.26 billion. During the first two months of this year, accumulated casino GGR reached €5 billion, up 19.7 per cent from the previous year.
