M Resort developer advances with new casino project
Anthony Marnell intends to spend $250m on the new project, according to Henderson city documents.
US.- The developer behind Las Vegas’s M Resort Spa Casino, which opened in the Henderson desert back in 2009, is moving forward with a new casino project in the same area.
Anthony Marnell is in the process of buying council-owned land across the road from M Resort and plans to invest around $250m in building a new casino resort.
The area is situated around eight miles south of the Las Vegas strip, which Marnell claims offers a more laid-back Vegas experience.
On Tuesday, the Henderson City Council approved a resolution certifying its intent to sell the land to Marnell. The land is worth around $6.5m, but the council is willing to sell for $4.3m as the land is to be used for a development project.
Speaking to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Marnell said: “There’s no set timeline for when this would start.”
The Las Vegas gambling industry has been particularly slow to recover from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic with visitor numbers remaining low.
