Loyola University Chicago launches course on sports betting

The Quinlan School of Business course covers gambling’s commercial growth alongside addiction risk and consumer protection.

US.- Loyola University Chicago has introduced an undergraduate course examining how sports betting and prediction markets are changing the US sports industry. Launched by the university’s Quinlan School of Business, the course addresses the commercial, regulatory and ethical issues surrounding gambling and is led by Noah Henderson.

The course will examine developments alongside the broader commercial and ethical questions created by the growing relationship between gambling and the sports industry. The course also examines the potential harms linked to sports betting and prediction markets. Topic include gambling addiction, consumer protection and the ethical challenges of promoting betting, particularly among younger and economically vulnerable groups.

The university’s School of Social Work, Cicero Family Services and the Illinois Department of Human Services host the annual Latine Problem Gambling Conference
