Lottery sales increase in China
The number of lottery sales in Mainland China increase 9.6 percent year-on-year during April.
China.- According to new data revealed by the Ministry of Finance of China, lottery sales in the territory reached US$5.5 billion during April. The number represents an increase of 9.6 percent when compared to the same period a year ago.
Sports lottery sales reported a rise of 15.2 percent to US$2.8 billion, whilst welfare lottery tickets experienced a 4.3 percent increase annually to US$2.7 billion. The total number of sales registered in the first four months of the year reaches US$19.5 billion, with an extra 3.7 percent reported by welfare lottery and a 9.1 percent of sports lottery sales. During the first quarter of the year the mainland territory increased lottery products by 4.9 percent annually to US$13.8 billion: welfare lottery sales amounted US$7.4 billion, 3.5 percent higher than the same quarter last year. Moreover, sports lottery sales totaled US$6.3 billion, a 6.6 percent increase year-on-year.
Last week, a rumor that China could soon open up to a domestic football lottery emerged in the country. Some executives at betting companies think that there’s a real chance that a football lottery might happen.
