Loto-Québec revenue boosted by online gaming

The operator expects better financial results for the 2017-18 fiscal year thanks to online gambling revenue increase.

Canada.- Loto-Québec’s financial results have been improved by online gaming: it reported an 8.5 per cent increase to €877 million. Turnover increased by 3.7 per cent and the operator reported improved results across all markets.

While the operator managed to improve all its sectors, online gaming increased its sales by 37.5 per cent to US$89.3 million, becoming the best performer during that period. The results are a significant increase from last year when the modality posted a 29.7 per cent increase. Online casino revenue also rose 40.6 per cent to US$48.3 million, while online lottery sales posted a 34 per cent hike to US$40.6 million.

Lottery operations are still the strongest revenue-generator as it accounts for sales of US$1.4 billion (or a 2.9 per cent rise). The four casinos under the company’s wing generated total sales of US$687 million, which represents an 8.1 per cent rise.
