Ladbrokes Coral dismisses paper service

Ladbrokes Coral offerings of paper odds in printed newspapers will no longer be published.

UK.- Ladbrokes Coral announced this week the end of one of its land-based services. As the industry is moving faster to the online gaming platform, the international gaming operator has decided to stop publishing the company’s offerings of paper odds in printed newspapers approaching the end of an area for the local market.

The printed service used to show the most potential odds, which would be later acknowledged by bookmakers as the time of the race was getting closer. In 1987 the service called ‘The Pricewise’ idea started to be published “as a bookmaker-supported tip service.” However, the online gaming development has taken over the leading position in the market.

Simon Clare, PR Director at Coral, said: “These days more feature races than ever before are being priced up several days before the race, and prices are constantly moving from the time they are first published until the race going off.”

The old Pricewise guarantee from Ladbrokes stated: “Ladbrokes will guarantee to re-release its published prices in its Racing Post advertisements at 9.00am UK time (Sunday- 10.30am in shops) subject to no non-runners or change of going since publication. Ladbrokes will endeavour to hold these prices for as long as possible.”
