Kenya could end gaming legislation

A Kenyan MP is lobbying against a legal framework for the gaming industry.

Kenya.- National Members of the Parliament will discuss a possible block on a gaming proposal. The Betting, Lotteries and Gaming Bill that was introduced last year could be eliminated from parliamentary debates due to a petition presented by the Labour Committee.

“The sponsor should withdraw the Bill or it [could] be rejected. A comprehensive Bill to replace the current Act should be introduced in the House for consideration and passage,” expresses the Labour Committee’s statement.

According to local press, Matungu MP David Were-led committee proposed the block on a current bill and a further reviewing of the industry in order to introduce a more comprehensive legislation. The official believes that the 2016 amendment is lacking critical consultation.
