Kalshi confirms sponsorship deals with 5 MLB teams despite regulatory controversies
Each partnership will feature in-stadium branding, logos on signage both inside and outside the ballparks, online promotions and, in certain cases, team-specific offers.
US.- Kalshi has announced sponsorship deals with five Major League Baseball teams in the United States, a move the prediction market operator said would strengthen fan engagement through its app. The agreements cover the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres.
Each partnership will feature in-stadium branding, logos on signage both inside and outside the ballparks, online promotions and, in certain cases, team-specific offers for supporters using Kalshi’s platform.
Some of the deals had already been noticed by media. Sportico had reported branding for the prediction market platform appearing on the Dodgers’ digital outfield signage and behind home plate and The Red Sox featuring Kalshi’s logo in a social media graphic previewing a series against the San Francisco Giants. The Red Sox also reportedly sent an email to their marketing list encouraging subscribers to use the platform.
Kalshi’s expansion into baseball marks another step in its strategy to embed prediction markets within mainstream sport. The company has been actively pursuing collaborations with major sporting events and clubs worldwide. Earlier this year, it announced a tie-up with FIFA ahead of the World Cup via ADI Predictstreet. The firm says it’s now in talks with Major League Baseball about a league-level deal.
However, Kalshi continues to face scrutiny in several US states over gambling laws and the legality of contracts tied to sporting outcomes. The company maintains that its sports-event contracts are federally regulated financial products under Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) oversight rather than sports wagers. The CFTC, backed by political business interests, has itself been fighting to defend this interpretation. However, critics, including many state regulators, licensed operators and tribal gaming authorities, argue the contracts function as unlicensed sports betting.
Legal and regulatory tussles are underway in the home states of several MLB teams that Kalshi has partnered with. In Massachusetts, Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell sued Kalshi in September 2025, alleging the platform offered unlawful sports wagering without a state licence. A January ruling allowed authorities to block access to Kalshi’s sports markets in the state. The case continues before the Supreme Judicial Court.
In California, three Indian tribes (Blue Lake Rancheria, Chicken Ranch Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians, and Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians) have filed a lawsuit against Kalshi. At the federal level, the Indian Gaming Association has been lobbying Congress for restrictions. Kalshi’s sports markets are currently restricted or blocked in several states, including Massachusetts, Nevada, Michigan and Washington.
