Jeju island casino opening delayed
The opening date for the Jeju Shinhwa World’s foreigner only casino has been further delayed to an unconfirmed date.
South Korea.- We won’t see a new foreigner only casino in South Korea next January 18 as planned after the venue at Jeju Shinhwa World, the resort on Jeju Island, has been pushed back. Landing International Development Ltd has yet to confirm the exact time of the new schedule as it merely advanced it was pushed to a “later date”.
According to the Hong Kong-listed company, they’re awaiting government permission to relocate another existing casino to the Jeju Shinhwa World premises.
“We have submitted our application to relocate our casino in Hyatt (Regency) Jeju to Jeju Shinhwa World to the Jeju government in December 2017,” a spokesperson confirmed to GGRAsia and added: “The Jeju government is currently processing our application and we expect the casino transfer to be approved by the Jeju government after the next sitting of the (Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Council) in February 2018.”
The Jeju Shinhwa World casino is set to feature 160 gaming tables, 240 slot machines and electronic table games. The property will be located at the Jeju Shinhwa World Marriott Resort, one of the many hotels at the complex.
The resort also has other two hotels, the Jeju Shinhwa World Landing Resort and the Somerset Jeju Shinhwa World, a convention centre, a K-Pop themed zone, a theme park and a shopping area.
