James Davies recounts his first few months in his role as Head of Commercial at Gamzix.

Exclusive interview.- James Davies, Head of Commercial at Gamzix, spoke to Focus Gaming News about the challenges and opportunities of aligning product development with market demand in the igaming sector.

He also reflected on the most strategic decisions he has made since taking on the role and discussed how Gamzix is positioning itself to stand out in a crowded content landscape.

You mentioned in your last interview that your role is about “connecting the dots”. What dots have been the hardest to connect, and which ones clicked faster than expected?

Connecting market demand with internal product development is always a moving target, especially in a space as dynamic as igaming. The hardest dots to connect have been around aligning long-term roadmap planning with short-term partner expectations. That said, one of the more pleasant surprises has been how quickly our team has adapted to feedback loops from the market. A major enabler of that agility has been our new Gamzix engine, which gives us greater flexibility and speed in developing, refining, and scaling games, while also making our titles perfectly optimised for mobile devices, where a large share of player engagement now happens.

What has been your most strategic decision so far in your first months as head of commercial, and how did it impact Gamzix?

Focusing on strategic partnerships has been a key priority. Our recent collaborations with RiskCherry and SoftGamings has opened doors to new distribution channels and significantly elevated the visibility of our portfolio. These partnerships enable us to present our vibrant content to a broader audience while reinforcing our commitment to fairness, compliance, and building trust through deep collaboration with respected industry experts. And this is just the beginning – more exciting partnership announcements are coming soon.

We are seeing more “content saturation” across platforms, how does Gamzix ensure its games don’t just launch, but actually scale?

Scaling a game today takes more than a flashy release. At Gamzix, we invest heavily in post-launch support, leveraging analytics, targeted promotions, and continuous optimisation based on real-world performance. Our focus isn’t just on delivering high-quality slots, but on delivering them with purpose. We stand out by offering full-cycle support: from game customisation to marketing alignment and post-launch analytics. We’re small enough to remain agile and personal, yet experienced enough to deliver at scale. That combination – speed, flexibility, and a human-first approach – is what truly helps us cut through the noise in a crowded market.

How important is speed in your current strategy, whether its delivery, integration or responding to partner demands?

Speed is absolutely critical. But speed without precision is just noise. We’ve refined our processes to be able to integrate and deliver content quickly, without compromising quality. Fast turnaround times have been a competitive edge, especially for partners working in regulated markets where timing can impact entire campaigns.

Besides revenue, what indicators do you personally pay close attention to when assessing the impact of your commercial strategy?

Retention and game-level performance metrics are key. I look closely at KPIs like average session length, unique user counts, and game lifespan across different markets. Also, the depth of partner engagement tells a story – when partners want to collaborate on more than just distribution, it’s a sign the strategy is resonating.

What’s next for Gamzix in the coming months?

We’re focused on creating new partnerships and launching games that exceed expectations. Our team is committed to pushing creative boundaries and delivering high-performing titles that truly stand out in the market.
