Italy releases online gambling results for May 2016
The Italian online gambling industry grew significantly in May 2016 showing an impressive 30.3 percent revenue increase.
Italy.- The Italian online gambling industry posted strong financial results for May 2016. During the last month, the industry saw a revenue increase of 30.3 percent totalling €34.7 million (US$ 39.15 million).
The upward trend during 2016’s first five months reached €175 million (US$ 197.46 million), which represented a 35.6 percent revenue increase in comparison with the first five months of 2015.
The leading operators in Italy are Lottomatica with a 12.2 percent share, followed by Sisal with 9.2 percent, William Hill on 6.9 percent, Eurobet on 6.1 percent and PokerStars on 5.8 percent. These five online gambling operators account for more than 40 percent of all revenue.
Online poker showed a 7.7 percent growth reaching €4.4 million (US$4.96 million) for May 2016. There was an 18.6 pecent increase in tournament earnings to €38.4 million (US$43.33 million) year-on-year. However, this result showed a 9.6 percent decline in cash game revenues, which were valued at €5.9 million (US$6.66 million).
