Iowa Lottery sales reach $469.6m

The lottery recorded its third-best annual sales result in 41 years.

U.S.- The Iowa Lottery closed fiscal year 2026 with $469.6m in sales, its third-highest annual result since the lottery was established 41 years ago. Sales increased 8 per cent compared with FY2025, while proceeds generated for state programmes rising 10 per cent to $95.1m.

The year ending June 30 saw players receive $305.6m in prizes. Retailers collected $30.5m in commissions, up by almost 8 per cent year-on-year.

Scratch tickets continued to account for the largest share of Iowa Lottery sales, generating $291.4m, more than 62 per cent of total sales broadly in line with the previous year. Powerball saw one of the strongest increases at $ 66.5m, up 77 per cent, supported by the second- and third-largest jackpots in Powerball history in September and December.
