Iowa casinos get sports betting partner
As the segment gets ready to launch in the state, some eastern Iowa casinos have confirmed their sports betting partner will be William Hill US.
US.- PASPA’s repeal was huge for the gaming industry and companies rushed to take advantage of the US market. That’s why, as the segment gets legalised in the state, eastern Iowa casinos found their sports betting partner.
William Hill US will land at the Isle Casinos in Waterloo and Bettendorf, which Eldorado Resorts owns in Iowa. That way, it will operate both their sportsbooks.
Both casinos want to get their operations ready by August when the NFL Preseason begins. They’ll have both an on-site operation and a mobile app, for which people will have to register at either venue.
Recent hearing on sports betting rules
The sports betting segment continues to take the US by storm. That’s why the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission held a hearing on the proposed rules for the segment.
Only two people spoke at the hearing: representatives of online sports betting companies and the Iowa casinos. There were no comments by members of the public.
“I was surprised that we did not get many comments,” IRGC administrator Brian Ohorilko said. “We’ll take a look at (recommendations from both representatives),” Ohorilko says. “But I think the draft that is out there is good and is hopefully close to its final form.”
“One way they can do it themselves [casinos], through a casino app that an individual casino would provide,” Ohorilko says. “The other way — and what we’re seeing with most of the operators — they’re entering into an agreement with advance deposit sports wagering operators. Those operators will provide the application.”
According to Ohorilko, the approval will come at a special meeting on July 30. “The thought is that we would put those rules back on that agenda for emergency adoption,” he said. “If they were adopted by the commission, there would be an affect date sometime in mid-August,” he explained.
