Interest in online poker soars during Covid-19 lockdowns
According to data from Google searches, the interest in online poker among UK users has increased by 3,000%.
UK.- The volume of Google searches for online poker has rocked in the UK during Covid-19 lockdown restrictions.
According to a report from Pi Datametrics, searches volumes increased by more than 3,000 per cent year-on-year in 2020.
The report saw particular growth in searches for “play poker online with friends”, an opportunity that was picked up by operators such as PokerStars, which created private tables so customers could play with friends.
Pi Datametrics noted that search volumes for “virtual grand national” and “online slot games” also grew significantly in 2020.
Analysts also identified a 46 per cent increase in smartphone use since 2019. They predict that by 2024, the number of monthly active smartphone users in the UK will reach 61.06 million.
