Indiana sports betting revenues increase in March
Sports betting in Indiana hit a new record with revenues of $316.7m in March, mainly driven by basketball.
US.- Indiana’s sports betting market saw another record month in March, with revenue of $316.7m.
Coming after good results in February, the number represents an increase of over $240m, or more than 300 per cent, from March 2020 when casinos were forced to close due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but also growth of 15.6 per cent month-on-month.
Adjusted gross revenue for the month came in at $26.3m, an increase of $9.3m from February and $20.8m from March 2020. However, both figures were short of January’s records.
Tax paid by operators increased 55.4 per cent month-on-month to US$2.5m.
Basketball led the way as the most popular sport to bet on, with bets amounting $160.7m, thanks in part to the NCAA Basketball Tournament, which was played in Indiana. Basketball bets were up 28.8 per cent from February and 359.1 per cent from March 2020, when sports events were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
