Indiana sports betting handle reaches $1bn in 2020
The state’s sports betting handle in December broke previous monthly records and took the total for the year to over $1bn.
US.- New figures show Indiana’s sports betting handle in December brought total bets for full-year 2020 to over $1.23bn.
According to statistics reported by the Indiana Gaming Commission, the state saw a handle of $313m in December 2020, a 93.5 per cent increase on the same month in 2019.
The handle broke the previous monthly record set in the state the month before, in November 2020, when bettors wagered $251.4m.
Football was the sport which contributed the most, accounting for 32 per cent of all bets. Basketball followed closely at 29 per cent.
From the handle taken, operators gained $24.3m in adjusted gross revenue, a 102.5 per cent increase from the $12m in December 2019, but a slight dip from the record $25.3m generated in November 2019.
From the total revenues, the state of Indiana gained $2.3m in sports betting taxes.
