Illinois reopens mobile sports betting registration
The decision comes following new restrictions on land-based casinos after a spike in Covid-19 cases.
US.- Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker has issued an executive order to temporarily permit mobile sports betting registration for new accounts.
The measure relaxes the state’s requirement for new betting customers to register for online betting platforms in person at a land-based casino or racetrack partner.
The measure will remain in place until September 19, although there is potential for an extension if coronavirus infection rates do not improve.
The decision comes after the Illinois Gaming Board introduced new restrictions on land-based casinos last week after a spike in Covid-19 cases across the state.
DraftKings launched their sportsbook in the state earlier this month. New players will now be able to use its services without having to travel to its East St. Louis venue to register.
