Illinois casino gets towns support
Both the Loves Park City Council and Machesney Park Village Board of Trustees voiced their support for a nearby Illinois casino development.
US.- The Illinois casino expansion has revolutionised the state. That’s why several towns are discussing potential nearby developments. As Rockford has yet to determine where to develop its own casino project, two towns have voiced their opinions.
Both the Loves Park City Council and Machesney Park Village Board of Trustees expressed their support for a venue. They passed resolutions showing for an Illinois casino along the Interstate 90 corridor.
“Obviously, we’re part of the revenue sharing with this,” Loves Park Mayor Greg Jury stated. “With that, we feel a location off Interstate 90 would be better than any other site.”
“It seems like the proposals, or the focus, is falling into two camps: a downtown riverfront location versus I-90,” Machesney Park Village Administrator Tim Savage said. “It’s a revenue issue and there are potentially millions on the line when it comes to promoting it and getting it to be a regional use that’s easily accessible so you can draw those dollars in from outside the county.”
“Gone are the days when Indian casinos are placed in the Northwoods tucked away and people will drive to some remote location to game and utilize it,” Savage added. “That or a river tucked away somewhere on the back roads off the Mississippi River.”
