Netherlands.- Holland Casino released its 2017 numbers, in which it is detailed that gross income experienced a 5.2 percent rise to US$780 million. Last year showed that investment drove a strong performance for the company.
The company invested US$87.4 million last year, mainly in new construction projects in Amsterdam West, Rotterdam and Valkenburg. Moreover, a renewal of slot machines has also served as hospitality improvement, with 924 of its 5,701 slot machines being replaced, and 1,320 (almost 23 per cent) equipped with the latest games.
CEO Erwin van Lambaart, said: “2017 was a year in which we showed our resilience. Despite tough challenges, such as the fire of our casino in Groningen and work interruptions, we have managed to hold our way up. In addition, we have been able to complete a number of long-term and complex dossiers, including the conclusion of a long-term collective labour agreement for our employees.”
Moreover, he said that the improved macroeconomic conditions contributed to the good result. “But, also, renewed gameplay like Game of Thrones, and strong Food and Beverage propositions such as Global Kitchen, play a role in this. In 2017, we also invested heavily in repairing the connection with and between the employees. We will certainly continue with these strategic plans in 2018.”
