Hellenic Gaming Commission launches illegal gambling reporting site
Greece’s Hellenic Gaming Commission will use the site to take tipoffs on illegal gambling activity.
Greece.- The Greek gambling regulator, the Hellenic Gaming Commission, has announced the launch of a new online portal to take tipoffs on illegal gambling.
Members of the public can anonymously report illegal gambling offerings via the site, which is named Whisper.
The site offers options to report illegal betting websites, unlicensed affiliates, illegal revenue or revenue that the individual suspects may derive from illegal gambling operations. Users can also upload documents as evidence to support complaints.
The Hellenic Gaming Commission called on the the public to use the site in order to safeguard the recently regulated online gaming market. Several suppliers have gained licences from the regulator after it opened the application process for online betting and online gaming licences in October 2020.
Companies to have obtained licences include SOFTSWISS, ESA Gaming, BGaming and Play’n GO.
The Greek online gambling market has tight restrictions, limiting random number generator (RNG) games to maximum stakes of €2, maximum prizes of €5,000 and a minimum three-second spin limit. Slots may not be advertised anywhere outside of an operator’s own website.
