Indiana approved Hard Rock Gary relocation
The gambling regulator from Indiana has approved the relocation of Hard Rock Casino in Gary, which will start later this year.
US.- The Indiana Gaming Commission has approved a plan that relocates and consolidates two Majestic Star casinos in Lake County into one casino in Gary, Indiana. The facility, to start construction later this year, will be called Hard Rock Casino Gary.
Spectacle Entertainment, in charge of the facility, will hire approximately 1,800 people once it builds the casino. The company said that the ground breaking will take place later this year. The first phase will be completed in late 2020. The second phase of the facility will feature a hotel and a parking garage. Construction will start in 2022 or 2023.
The Indiana regulator said that it is accepting proposals for a new casino in Terre Haute. This comes after it approved a plan to relocate one of the Lake County licenses to Vigo County, wibc.com reported.
The casino
The casino, which will become the second-largest in the territory, will have an attached hotel and parking garage. It will also feature a sportsbook, bars and restaurants. It will also include a Hard Rock Cafe and a music venue called Hard Rock Live.
Last month, John Keeler, Spectacle vice president and general counsel, said that the partnership with Hard Rock happened because of Illinois, in reference to the recent gambling expansion bill approved in the state. “We felt if we were going to be able to compete in Gary and put out a first-class product — really attract people to our facility — we needed to partner with the gold standard, with the Rolls Royce if you will, in the casino gaming industry. And that’s why we’ve partnered with Hard Rock, who will manage and brand this casino.”
