Hard Rock AC gets ready for grand opening
The Atlantic City casino is finishing its last details ahead of its big opening on Thursday.
US.- Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City is set to host its grand opening on Thursday, June 28th, and during the weekend the facility received a 60-foot guitar that is set to be featured at its entrance.
The 60-foot guitar was inspired after a Gibson Les Paul guitar, and the strings will work as lights. The body of the guitar features both Hard Rock and the location’s names. Last week, the company also installed a 30-foot-tall sign modelled after the same guitar in another location in the city.
Another gambling facility that was closed in the city, Revel Casino, will also reopen its doors as Ocean Resort Casino on June 28th. Executives picked that day because they consider that it will be a special one for Atlantic City, as it is expected that the two openings will help the city improve its revenues and boost the local industry. Revel Casino cost US$2.4 billion and opened to the public in 2012 before closing in 2014. Between Hard Rock and Ocean Resort, Atlantic City is expected to recover 6,000 of the 11,000 jobs that were lost since 2014 due to these shutdowns.
The Casino Control Commission from New Jersey unanimously approved Hard Rock’s application for a casino licence on May 9th. Key casino employees also received licences by the commission, including Hard Rock International Chairman Jim Allen, Hard Rock International Chief Operating Officer Jon Lucas, Property President Matt Harkness along with principle investors Joseph Jingoli and Jack Morris.
Jim Allen, Hard Rock’s International Chairman, said that 200 acts were booked for the opening, including Steve Byrne on June 26th, Howie Mandel on July 3rd, the Gin Blossoms on July 21st and Bush on August 1st.
