GVC appoints VP of regulatory affairs for North America
The British gaming giant GVC Holdings hopes to continue expanding across the US and Canada.
US.- GVC Holdings has appointed Martin Lycka as senior vice president within its department of American Regulatory Affairs and Responsible Gambling.
In his new role, Lycka will be responsible for expanding GVC’s licensing and regulatory structure in the US and Canada while emphasising its commitment to responsible gambling, sports integrity and regulatory compliance.
He will also assist in Latin American affairs, as the company hopes to expand into the region in the near future.
GVC Holdings is a British company with licences in over 20 countries. Within the US, the gaming giant operates BetMGM in partnership with MGM Resorts.
Lycka said in a statement: “The United States presents a tremendous opportunity for GVC Holdings as more states embrace sports gaming in robust and transparent regulatory structures.
“GVC and the GVC Foundation U.S. are at the forefront of this development, demonstrating our commitment to regulatory compliance, sports integrity and responsible gambling. I look forward to leading these programs in the U.S. and Canada.”
Lycka will relocate to the US in early 2021 to carry out his new role.
Group director of legal, regulatory and secretariat at GVC Holdings, Rob Hoskin, said: “Martin has already made great strides in his regulatory duties, bringing responsibility, sporting integrity and effective regulation to life in the US. Martin’s new role is further evidence of our commitment to the strong and growing U.S. market and our ambition to lead this growth.”
The gaming group announced earlier this week its plan to rebrand under the name Entain Plc as part of its strategy to highlight an increased focus on responsibility and sustainability.
