Great Canadian Entertainment to relocate Casino Nova Scotia to Dartmouth Crossing
The operator has reached an agreement with the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation to build a new venue by 2029.
Canada.- Great Canadian Entertainment has announced an agreement with the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation (NSGC) to relocate Casino Nova Scotia from its current Halifax waterfront site to Dartmouth Crossing. The company plans to complete the purpose-built destination in 2029.
Under the terms of the agreement, the NSGC will exercise its right to acquire the existing Halifax property for nominal consideration. The Province intends to sell the site to a third party and lease it back to Great Canadian, allowing the current casino to remain fully operational until the new facility is ready.
The deal includes an extended 25-year operational term starting from the opening of the Dartmouth facility. However, if the new project does not proceed, the operator will continue under its current agreement. Construction remains subject to standard development and regulatory approvals.

Environment and climate change Minister Timothy Halman, acting for Treasury Board Minister John Lohr, added: “We are pleased to have reached an agreement with Great Canadian Entertainment for a new, modern casino in Dartmouth. Great Canadian has the expertise and track record we need to ensure the continued success of casino operations in our province.”
