Grand Lisboa remains inactive
The Cotai casino that stopped its construction process a month ago over an accident is still suspended.
Macau.- A government official revealed to GGRAsia that the suspension of Grand Lisboa Palace is still in place. The now one month halt started after a fatal accident that happened to one of the construction workers.
Last month, the authorities ordered the contractor to fully implement effective measures that would improve occupational safety of all workers. “The contractor [of the casino resort project] is still making the related rectification works required at the construction site. And we will have to see whether all the work safety compliances are in place at the site,” said a spokesperson to the news outlet. As the official said, the duration of the closing is still undecided, as they’re waiting for the outcome of the bureau checks at the construction site.
“Construction work at the Grand Lisboa Palace site is currently suspended,” said Grand Lisboa Palace’s public relations department, and added that they will cooperate with the bureau for further inspections and ensure strict compliance to all safety requirements by all the workers on site. The casino that is estimates to open its doors during the first semester of 2018 is set to be featured in the integrated resort of SJM on Cotai.
