GGR to grow up to 13 pct in Macau during July

According to Bernstein Research, GGR in Macau is on track to post an 11-13 per cent growth during July.

Macau.- The financial performance of the gaming segment in Macau has been in the spotlight over the last few days and Bernstein Research has revealed its projected results for July. According to the firm, gross gaming revenue (GGR) is on track to reach an 11-13 per cent growth in July amid a decelerating trend.

The research company revealed that its channel checks have grown month to date GGR of US$2.27 billion, 13 per cent higher year-on-year. Furthermore, it represents an 11 per cent improvement when compared to June’s GGR and a one per cent growth when compared to May’s.

According to Bernstein Reseach, the mass market will – likely – end up being up mid-single digits month-on-month, as VIP volume will be up low teens.

The assessment comes just after Sanford C. Bernstein Ltd revealed GGR will only expand 14 per cent this year and will slow down to a four per cent growth in 2019. The brokerage explained the city’s GGR is “now entering a decelerating environment” and forecasted the mass market to outperform the VIP segment as they will grow 12 and 17 per cent this year, respectively.
