New gambling regulations approved in Germany
Online casino and poker will be legal from 1 July 2021 but with operators having to meet strict requirements.
Germany.- German lawmakers have approved legislation to legalise online casino and poker from 1 July 2021.
They also agreed upon Sachsen-Anhalt as the location for the newly-formed regulator, which will be established through the current Glücksspielneuregulierungstaatsvertrag (GlüNeuRStv).
The approved regulations do include fairly strict restrictions and limits, including a €1 max bet limit for each spin.
They must also be offered separately from table games and have no autospin function. Jackpots have also been banned.
Regarding sports betting, markets are limited to the outcome of a game or the next scorer.
Advertising will also be restricted, with operators only permitted to run TV ads between 9pm and 6am.
