Genting’s New York casino moves forward
Plaza Construction has been chosen to manage the construction of Genting’s New York casino.
US.- Malaysian casino developer Genting Group has announced it has picked Plaza Construction to be construction manager for its New York development. Genting’s New York casino, branded Resorts World Casino New York City and located in Jamaica, New York, will undergo the 500,000-square-foot second phase of a US$400 million expansion.
“We are excited to work with Plaza Construction to bring to life our vision for an unrivalled entertainment and hospitality destination in Southeast Queens,” said Scott Molina, president of Resorts World Casino New York City, in a press release. “This new play, stay, dine and shop development will create good-paying jobs and generate significant revenue for our surrounding community and [for the state].”
The construction company will also oversee a four-star hotel 10-stories high, which will feature five-star suites, conference and meeting rooms, and more offerings. The project is expected to generate 1,000 construction jobs and is already underway. It is expected to open by the boreal summer and be finished completely before 2021.
