Belgium.- The Belgian betting and gaming company Gaming1 has agreed a deal to acquire the holding company behind Carousel Group in a move intended to bolster its position in the online market. The Liège-based operator of the 777 brand has purchased 100 per cent of the shares in Pac-Man NV for an undisclosed sum. The transaction builds on a long-standing relationship with Carousel Group that dates back to 2012.
The transaction will mark the separation of Carousel Group and 711, which focuses on the Dutch market but also has operations in Belgium. The Netherlands’ Casino Nieuws states that 711 will continue to be owned by the De Backer family, the current owner of Pac-Man NV.
Once the acquisition is finalised, Gaming1 will take control of Pac-Man NV’s Belgian licence and digital operations. The company believes the move will significantly increase its presence in Belgium’s online casino sector. It said the deal will not involve the transfer of employees but will see what it described as a straightforward integration process that will begin shortly.
“We believe the acquisition will further strengthen our digital presence in Belgium and enhance the fun and engaging entertainment experience we offer players,” said Sylvain Boniver, Chief Operating Officer of Gaming1. “It will also support our ambition to provide a safe, responsible and distinctive offering in the regulated Belgian market.”
