Galaxy delays phase three of Macau casino

The company has pushed back the opening date of the third phase of its Cotai facility.

Macau.- Francis Lui Yiu Tung, vice-chairman of Galaxy Entertainment, has revealed that the company has pushed back the opening date of phase three of the Cotai property. The third phase of Galaxy Macau was scheduled to be operational by 2019.

Lui said that phase three of the Cotai casino resort will open in 2020 instead of 2019, as the company had reported earlier this year. The fourth phase of the facility is expected to open sometime in 2021. The vice-chairman said that the delay is due to a delay in the construction application procedures, as there were “new government requirements which we are obliged to follow.”

The third phase will see the casino focus on its casino space, as the company wants to finish the renovations before 2022 when the company is expected to renew its Macau gaming licence.
