Galaxy announces Cotai opening dates

Galaxy Ent announced that the Phases 3 and 4 of the Cotai property Galaxy Macau will be open by 2018 and 2020.

Macau.- Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) revealed that the third and fourth phase of the Cotai Strip venue will be ready in one and three years respectively. The news were announced during a presentation of the annual financial results.

The company said that the developments will cost approximately US$5.5 billion, and the construction work is projected to begin during the second quarter of this year. Whilst the operator is confident that the deadlines will be reached, the agreement with Macau’s government establishes that if they don’t make it before 2018 and 2020, they could lose the rights to operate the facilities.

According to several says, the facilities won’t offer gambling options as they’re mainly focused on a family-friendly environment. The first phase of the venue was launched in 2011, with the second one following in 2015.
