FanDuel to operate online sports betting in West Virginia
The company has announced that it will offer online and mobile betting in West Virginia, one of latest states to legalise the modality.
US.- FanDuel CEO Matt King has revealed that the company has reached an agreement with The Greenbrier Resort to provide retail, online and mobile sports betting services within the state of West Virginia. Both companies are planning to have the service running by the fall, with the last date subject to the state’s regulator’s decision.
The West Virginia Lottery Commission passed sports betting rules after an emergency meeting that took place last Thursday, paving the way for the state’s five casinos to be eligible to offer sports betting services.
Through a press release, the company confirmed the agreement, and said that they are honoured to be chosen to provide sports wagering services at The Greenbrier, “an iconic resort in the US,” and added: “As we work towards building out a top sports betting product for the upcoming NFL season, we look forward to bringing West Virginia residents, sports fans, and visitors to The Greenbrier the best interactive sports experience on the market.”
More details about the agreement will depend on the regulations that will be set by the West Virginia Lottery Commission. Casinos have to ensure that off-site wagers come from people who are geolocated in West Virginia at the moment they place their bets.
