(Exclusive interview).- European Casino Association Chairman Per Jaldung sat down with Focus Gaming News on our YouTube channel to discuss the industry situation during Covid-19.

Focus Gaming News sat down for a detailed talk with European Casino Association Chairman Per Jaldung to assess the land-based casino segment. In an interview on our YouTube channel, he discussed the current scenario and what comes next for the industry after lockdown.

Mr Jaldung said the pandemic and the speed of its escalation had surprised everybody, but that “customers are very happy to come back to the land-based casinos.”

The ECA Chairman predicts players will remain interested in the segment, saying: “The demand for the land-based casinos experience remains very strong.”

But the segment wasn’t lowering its guard he said. “Securing the safety and health for our staff and customers is priority number one,” he explained. As such, the association has “compiled a list of best practice measures” to share with its members.

“It’s been an historic moment,” Mr Jaldung said about the recent months. “The whole gambling world has come together to find sustainable solutions to keep everyone safe.”

As for the segment’s role in the general economy’s recovery, he said: “Casinos are an important economic motor and they support other industries.” He also emphasised that the ECA “strongly believes we need to fight illegal offers and to be able to protect the customers.”

Mr Jaldung said he thought that “technical innovation is supporting our industry,” and highlighted that “casino workers are extremely loyal,” which strengthens the segment’s position.
