Esports to become biggest sport in the world

According to Bracken Darrell, the CEO peripheral manufacturer Logitech, eSports will continue to grow.

Switzerland.- As the eSports segment continues to take over audiences from all across the globe, peripheral manufacturer company Logitech’s CEO Bracken Darrell believes it is set to become the biggest sport in the world. Furthermore, the Swiss company executive assured that they will “inevitably” be in the Olympics.

“In 1965, 1968, 1969, I remember the NFL and the Super Bowl, how big it seemed then. Looking back on that, it was tiny. I think that’s exactly where we are now in gaming,” he said during an interview on TV channel CNBC and added: “I think it’s inevitable. I think it will be part of the Olympics.”

Mr Darrell also explained that Logitech has already been in discussion with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) about how eSports will impact the event. Even as expectations for when they’ll be included in the sporting event have lowered and the forecasts point to a potential addition only after the 2024 Olympics, the segment is set to become the largest sector of media and entertainment by 2020, financial services firm Baird projected.
