Entain to introduce new limits to tackle problem gambling

Entain will introduce new measures to tackle problem gambling as the UK government reviews legislation.

UK.- the Gambling group Entain has revealed plans to limit betting for problem gamblers and impose automated credit checks.

The plan comes as the UK government analyses tighter regulations on gambling as part of a review of the 2005 Gambling Act. A survey has shown strong support in the UK for tighter measures.

Entain, which owns brands including Ladbrokes and Coral, said it would be the first UK operator to roll out personalised stake limits and credit checks using publicly available data for customers that show signs of high-risk behaviour such as gambling late at night or increasing their deposits.

The UK government’s review of gambling legislation is considering a range of limitations on the industry, including bans on sports advertising, changes to the powers of the regulator and stake limits for online slot and casino games.
