Encore Boston Harbor workers to vote on strike authorisation
The vote involves 1,350 union employees represented by Unite Here Local 26 and Teamsters Local 25.
U.S.- Encore Boston Harbor, a Wynn Resorts property, is facing the possibility of a worker strike as 1,350 union employees vote on whether to authorise industrial action. The vote is taking place on Wednesday and Thursday, August 19 and 20, amid negotiations over a new collective bargaining agreement.
The vote is expected to go in favour of authorising a strike, following strong past backing for collective action among Encore Boston Harbor workers. In 2023, 98 per cent of union members voted in favour of a similar measure. If authorised, employees could walk out as early as September 1, potentially affecting operations at the property.
The results of the current vote are scheduled to be announced Thursday at the Knights of Columbus in Charlestown, located at 545 Medford Street. Unite Here Local 26 and Teamsters Local 25 represent the workers at the property.
Unite Here Local 26 and Teamsters Local 25 are seeking improved overall working conditions for their members. The unions argue that Wynn Resorts is in a position to meet their demands. Encore Boston Harbor generated approximately $846.9m in revenue in 2025. The company has previously said it is committed to providing its employees with a liveable wage.
