Belgium.- The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has begun preparations for this year’s European Safer Gambling Week, inviting stakeholders from across the gambling sector to register events and activities in support of the initiative.
The sixth edition of the annual campaign will take place from November 16 to 22 2026 and will focus on promoting safer gambling practices, raising awareness of player protection tools and highlighting the support services available to consumers across Europe. According to EGBA, the campaign also aims to encourage discussions about the latest developments in gambling regulation and research, while providing a platform for sharing best practice across the industry.
The association is calling on operators, regulators, trade bodies, harm prevention organisations, technology suppliers, research institutions, sports clubs and experts-by-experience to take part in the week through a range of activities. Possible contributions include hosting webinars, workshops and panel discussions, launching new safer gambling initiatives, providing staff or customer training, publishing research and data insights, and partnering with support organisations to promote awareness of help services. Stakeholders can also participate by sharing the campaign’s safer gambling messages through their own communication channels.
Last year’s European Safer Gambling Week recorded its highest levels of participation to date. Some 221 partners from 24 countries took part in the campaign, while safer gambling messages reached 4.1 million social media users. The initiative featured 23 events across Europe, attracting more than 2,500 attendees and 120 speakers. The 2025 edition additionally expanded reach by bringing safer gambling messaging to televised football matches and retail betting outlets for the first time.
Commenting on the upcoming campaign, Pierre Tournier, Interim Secretary General of EGBA, said: “European Safer Gambling Week is an important moment in the year – a chance for all of us to take stock of where we are on safer gambling and to have open, honest conversations about what more can be done. Last year’s events programme and discussions were excellent, and we’d like this year’s to be even better. If you’re thinking about organising something, get in touch early, so we can build the strongest possible programme.”
As in previous years, the week will be supported by a player-facing social media campaign delivering safer gambling messages in local languages, alongside a programme of events held across Europe.
Organisations wishing to have their activities included in the official programme have until October 19 to register their events with EGBA. Branding materials, including logos and local-language social media graphics, are available on request to support participating organisations.
