Dutch lottery completes Lotify acquisition

The state-run operator already had a majority stake in the charity lottery service provider.

The Netherlands.- Nederlandse Loteri has completed its acquisition of Lotify, a digital platform that allows charities to run fundraising lotteries and competitions in the Netherlands. The financial terms of the deal were not made public.

The Dutch lottery first purchased a majority stake in Lotify back in 2021. By taking full ownership, the state-owned operator aims to strengthen its foothold in the charity lottery sector.

Nederlandse Loteri chief executive Arjan Blok said the integration will expand the operator’s ability to support organisations nationwide.

“As a fully integrated part of the Dutch Lottery, Lotify can leverage our knowledge, network, and make an impact even more effectively,” Blok said. “This allows us to support even more sports federations, clubs, and charities, which are looking for new ways to raise funds.”

Lotify’s founder, Guy van Iperen, said the “time was right” to hand over full control.

“After four years of intense collaboration, the time has come to transfer Lotify to the Dutch Lottery,” van Iperen said. “This is in line with the agreements we made in 2021, when the Dutch Lottery acquired a majority stake.

“I look back with pride on what we have built together and am confident that the platform will continue to grow under this new owner. This way, Lotify can help more organisations generate additional funding.”

The move comes at a time when Dutch gambling operators are bracing for another tax rise. From January 2026, gross gaming revenue will be taxed at 37.8 per cent. Nederlandse Loteri has criticised the decision, warning that the rise could harm the regulated market overall.

Earlier this year, the Dutch government ruled out the privatisation of the Dutch national lottery and of Holland Casino. However, there have been political changes in the Netherlands. Coalition talks remain ongoing following a general election on October 29. That has led to doubts over the timeline for proposed gambling reforms in the Netherlands.
